BJP may project first woman IPS officer Kiran Bedi as Delhi CM
It is being said that the saffron party doesn't have a credible face in Delhi. In past, even Opposition parties trained their guns on the BJP saying that devoid of Narendra Modi, party can't do anything in the Delhi election.
But it seems BJP has made plan to do away with this obstacle. Reports say that former IPS officer Kiran Bedi could be projected as the BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate in coming Assembly election. The former AAP member Bedi, who is also a supporter of Narendra Modi could reportedly join the party in a week.
The BJP had projected Harsh Vardhan as the party's Chief Ministerial candidate in the Assembly polls in December last year. Vardhan who was health Minister till now was relieved and given Science and Technology ministry in the recent cabinet reshuffle.
Bedi, who was part of core team of Anna Hazare during his agitation for a strong Lokpal legislation, has openly been hailing Modi's leadership. Recently, she also praised Modi's big initiative of Swachh Bharat campaign.
Sources say that Delhi police has filed a closure report in a cheating case against first woman IPS officer Bedi.
In 2011, a Delhi court had ordered the registration of a FIR against former IPS officer for allegedly cheating and misappropriating funds in collusion with foreign companies and other foundations.
