BJP makes clean sweep in UP MLC polls; wins 3 seats
The BJP has won all the three MLC seats in Uttar Pradesh.
Lucknow, Feb 11: There is a reason for the Bharatiya Janata Party to smile. On a day when assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh kick-started on Saturday, the results of members of legislative council elections came to light.
According to media reports, the BJP has managed to secure a victory in all the three graduate MLC seats from Kanpur, Gorakhpur and Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh.

The polling for the seats was held on February 6.
Voting for the first phase of UP polls started at a slow pace in the 73 assembly constituencies in western Uttar Pradesh on Saturday morning.
In the 2012 assembly polls, of the 73 seats -- the Samajwadi Party had won 24 seats, the Bahujan Samaj Party 23, the BJP 12, the Rashtriya Lok Dal nine and the Congress five seats.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had won all the 12 seats in UP. There are 2.59 crore voters who are exercising their franchise on Saturday of which 1.42 crore are men, 1.17 crore women and 1,511 from the third gender.
