Sonepat, Oct 20: Ahead of the general elections 2014, the BJP president Rajnath Singh on Sunday hit out at the UPA government for "marketing poverty for voters".

According to reports, Singh said, "Indira Gandhi began marketing followed by Rajiv, Sonia and then Rahul."

While addressing the party workers in Sonepat, Haryana, Singh said, "Sometimes he (Congress party's vice-president Rahul Gandhi) takes kalavatis name, sometimes he sleeps in a Dalit house and gets clicked, While they do nothing for the poor."

Accusing the Congress-led UPA government of crossing all limits of corruption, Singh said, "If anyone has hurt the honour and pride of this country, it is the Congress Government. Congress government has crossed all limits of corruption. Whenever they have come to power, there is always a list of corruption charges against them. As long as they are in power, this country cannot prosper."

In an apparent jibe at the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, he said, "The UPA government is a car where someone else is sitting on the driving seat, someone else is pushing the accelerator."

Nitin Gadkari said that BJP flag will flutter on the Lal Quila.

BJP's former chief Nitin Gadkari and the BJP's leader of opposition in Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj, BJP state president Ram Bilas Sharma along with other leaders were present at the rally.

While taking potshots at Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra, Gadkari said, "The 'in-laws' are looting the land in the state and there is no government in the state. The Congress is the most corrupt government. It should be renamed as scam party."

On the BJP's chances of coming to power in 2014, Gadkari said, "The number of people who have come out here today shows that Haryana has resolved to vote the Manmohan Singh-led government and the Haryana state government, which indulged in illegal land acquisition from farmers out of power. This is what your numbers show.... The Bharatiya Janata Party flag will flutter on the Lal Qila."

Sushma Swaraj criticised Bhupinder Singh Hooda led-Haryana government.

She said, "Industries have been shut, corruption is rampant in Haryana. Once it was known for its roads and development now it is left far behind."

Sushma also asserted, "To eliminate the loot of this government we need to hold strong in the Lower House."
