BJP files case against Ramachandra Guha for comments on Gauri Lankesh murder
The BJP had staged a protest against Guha after he blamed the BJP-RSS for journalist Gauri Lankesh's murder.
The Bharatiya Janata Party's youth wing in Karnataka filed a complaint against historian Ramachandra Guha. The party had sent a legal notice to the historian asking him to apologize for his statements in the Gauri Lankesh murder case. A complaint was filed after Guha refused to respond to the notice.
The BJP Yuva Morcha filed a complaint against Guha for his statements accusing the BJP-RSS of journalist Gauri Lankesh's murder. Guha, a renowned historian had received backlash after he said that that the RSS was behind the recent killings of activists and journalists. He added that the BJP government had created an atmosphere of intolerance in the society.
The Karnataka unit of the BJP youth wing had sent a notice asking the historical to apologize and withdraw his statement else face legal action. The party approached the Malleswaram police with a complaint but an FIR is yet to be registered in the same.
"It was likely that Gauri's murderers came from the same Sangh Parivar from which the murderers of Pansare, Dabholkar and Kalburgi came," Guha had said. The historian had taken to social media to criticise the BJP for sending him a legal notice over his comments.
