BJP chief Amit Shah's visit to Tamil Nadu cancelled
OPS and EPS factions of the AIADMK are expected to merge on Monday
BJP national president Amit Shah's visit to Tamil Nadu has been cancelled. Shah, as part of his Vistarak program, was to visit Tamil Nadu on a three-day tour between August 22 and 24.
The Tamil Nadu BJP unit said that no new dates were announced. The party did not disclose any reason for Amit Shah cancelling his visit. "BJP national president Amit Shah's three-day visit to Tamil Nadu that was to begin tomorrow has been put off," said BJP general secretary Vanathi Srinivasan.

The visit has been cancelled at a time when hectic political activity is underway in Panneerselvam and Edappadi Palanisamy camps of the AIADMK. The rival camps are expected to announce a merger on Monday. The merger was timed to coincide with Amit Shah's visit but now, the visit has been cancelled. Amit Shah cancelling his visit to Tamil Nadu has given rise to more speculations on BJP's role in the AIADMK merger.
