Noida, Dec 2: Yadav Singh, the tainted chief engineer of Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway Development Authority, did not even have an engineering degree for most of his career.

Yadav hit headlines last week after the income-tax department raided his house in Noida and unearthed 2 kg of diamond-studded gold jewellery worth crores and Rs 12 lakh in cash.

According to Times of India report, Yadav joined Noida Authority in 1980 as a junior engineer (JE). In 1985, he was promoted to the post of assistant project engineer and in 1995, he became project engineer. He managed to become the project engineer without any engineering degree.

The report says that Yadav was promoted with a rider that he gets a degree within three years. Obliging that order, Yadav arranged the degree in given time frame. But, his promotion raised many eyebrows as he neither had any degree nor the eligibility to become a project engineer.

As per the recruitment and promotion rules of Noida Authority, if a JE has 15 years of experience then only he can be appointed as assistant project engineer and also to become project engineer an engineering degree is must. But, all the rules were kept aside in Yadav Singh's case.

Yadav who belongs to scheduled caste was made engineer-in-chief of Noida Authority in 2011. But, when the SP government came to power, Yadav was suspended for his alleged involvement in a Rs 954-crore scam.

But, surprisingly, the Akhilesh government reinstated him in November 2013 and recently gave him additional charge as Chief Engineer of Greater NOIDA as well as of the Yamuna Expressway Authority.
