Patna, Aug 5: Bihar's well-known conjoined twins-Saba Shakeel and Farah Shakeel are running from pillar to post for a shop that Nitish Kumar had promised them during a Janata Durbar.

The family of the 19 year olds had initially demanded mercy killing for the duo as their condition was deteriorating. Joined at the heads, the two share an artery that carries blood in their hearts.

On plea for help, Nitish Kumar assigned them a shop government-owned commercial Maurya Lok complex in central Patna. Their brother Mohammed Tamanna, who is a jobless youth and has dedicated his life in taking care of the two sisters said,"I met the chief minister at his Janata Durbar a couple of months ago, requesting him to allot a shop in my sisters' name to help us eke out a living."

He further added,"The chief minister promptly forwarded our application to the district administration and the Patna Municipal Corporation, which runs the shopping complex. He (Nitish) directed the officials to allot a shop to us." He rues that although the chief minister has expedited the process, senior officials demand a written letter. Now, he has to wait for the next Janata Durbar, which is not likely to happen soon.

Meanwhile, sisters Farah (who has two kidneys) and Saba (who has none) thank the Supreme Court for fixing a monthly grant of Rs 5,000 for their maintenance.
