Pranay Misra (28), hailing from Bhubaneshwar, was on his way to meet his girlfriend on his scooter when two motorcycle borne youths accosted and stabbed him multiple times near Chocolate factory on Tavarekere Main Road on Monday. He tried to escape but was chased and killed.

The police say that his scooter brushed against the bike which was being ridden by Karthik and Arun, two rowdy elements. They picked up a fight with the deceased and demanded that he cough up Rs 500. Pranay however refused to pay up saying it was not his fault.

The rowdies then began chasing Pranay. However Pranay fell on the road as he suddenly applied the brakes. Taking advantage, the two rowdies punched him in the face and stabbed him to death. The police then tracked down the two accused persons. While Karthik was arrested, Arun managed to escape.
