Bengaluru stands 6th globally while searching for Blue Whale Challenge on Google

Indian cities have topped the chart globally in Google search for information on the lethal Blue Whale Challenge, revealed Google Trends results. However, Bengaluru city stands in sixth position for the search results.

According to Google trends data, the top Indian cities are Kolkata, Guwahati, Chennai, Mumbai and Bengaluru. Kolkata tops the chart with a 100 per cent surge in online searches for the game over the past 12 months, with three Indian cities among the world's top five.

Commonly searched words for the game included blue whale challenge game', 'the whale game', 'blue whale game download', 'blue whale apk', 'blue whale suicide challenge' etc.

India consistently stood third with regard to searches for the challenge.

What is Blue Whale Challenge?

The Blue Whale game or Blue Whale challenge is a suicide game where the place is given some tasks by an administrator over a 50-day period. The Challenge which lasts for 50 days starts with carving a blue whale on your body. It was first originated in Russia, which claimed over a 100 lives in Russia and Europe.The alleged creator of the game, Philipp Budeikin is in prison in Russia. Ilya Sidorov, believed to be an administrator of the game, has also reportedly been arrested in Moscow.

The game may a give a teen a challenge to do odd things like seeing horror movie alone or bath with cold water in winters. But the level of games gets difficult with each stage finally leading to suicide.

The game, initially believed to have been available on the social networking site VKontakte, is said to have got its name from the popular belief that blue whales sometimes beach themselves to die.
