Bengaluru, Aug 5: In a major drug haul, officials from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Bengaluru, seized various narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances worth Rs one crore after they raided a house at TC Palya in the city on Wednesday (August 3).

"Two Nigerians--Roseline Ernest (40) and Loveth Osasogie (30)-have been arrested in the case," Sunil Kumar Sinha, Zonal Director of NCB, Bengaluru, told OneIndia.

Sinha said the raid was conducted based on specific information provided by reliable sources. "It is one of our biggest raids," he added.

During the raid cocaine (115 grams), cocaine tablets (0.2 grams), MDMA (a pure form of Ecstasy that goes by the street name Molly) (30 grams), Methamphetamine (43 grams) and LSD (Lysergic acid diethylamide also known as acid) (0.25 grams) were seized by the NCB sleuths. The accused were supplying the drugs to parties and also selling them to students and youngsters in the city.

"As per our preliminary inquiry, both the accused were living in India without any valid documents. The accused have been arrested and are being produced before the magistrate," Sinha informed.

Drug haul in Bengaluru

Officials of the NCB say drug menace in the city is on rise in the recent times.

"In 2014, we busted eight drug rackets. The number of drug rackets busted by the agency went up to 17 in 2015. In the first two months of 2016, we've busted four rackets," said Sinha.

One more important fact that has come to the notice of the NCB, Bengaluru-- established by the ministry of home affairs in 2010 with jurisdiction over Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh-is that several illegal drug manufacturing units have come up across Karnataka in the last few years.
