Bengaluru ready to host grandiose running race, TCS World 10K

Bengaluru, May 11: To quench the thirst of athletes participating in the ninth edition of the TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) World 10K- 75,000 liters of water will be arranged on Sunday, May 15. To deal with medical emergency, 175 doctors will be at service during the running race hours across the roads through which participants move.

Yes, IT city is all set to host running extravaganza TCS World 10K 2016. Event that witnesses athletes from across the world will be flagged off at 6.00 AM with the predicted temperature, 22 degree Celsius, in the city on that day. However race has been segregated into many sections, each will start at different time.

TCS

According to the press note, running for elite male athletes will kick start at 7.25 AM, while elite women section will go running at 8.10 AM. While senior citizen section race is scheduled at 7.40 AM, Mujja run that would see 11,000 people running on the streets of the Bengaluru will commence at 9.10 AM.

The organisers has also released road map for the running race. Different categories travel in different routes. However major travel route will be MG Road, Cubbon Road, Anil Kumble Junction, M G Road Metro Station, Vidhana Sowadha, Corporation Circle and others. There will be two finish lines, one at Athletic Stadium and the other is the main gate of Kanteerava Stadium.

Race director, Hugh Jones quoted in the press note saying route for this year's running event has been made simpler. "Previously it was mostly upward route but now it is more gradient. For instance the route is upward in Kasturba Road, goes downward at MG Road, and then again is ascending around Kamraj road and so on. The final Cubbon Park stretch is the fastest one since it;s just a downward decent. Runners will definitely benefit from the fact that it is a more gradient path and will add to their run in a positive manner", Jones stated.

Medical Facilities

Medical camps will be put in place at two finishing lines. Both camps are 40-bed camps and are equipped with medical aide such as stretcher, wheel chairs and ambulances. Five medics on bike will be moving around all the routes to aide in case of health failure. 175 doctors will be present during the event to provide medical services. There will be five ambulances stationed at finish lines.

Water

8 water stations will function on the day to keep athletes sufficiently hydrated all along the racing journey. As many as 75,000 Liters of water will be arranged and is managed by various running groups .
