Members of National Students Union of India (NSUI) on Tuesday staged a 'Pakoda protest' mocking Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bengaluru. The Congress' students wing slammed the BJP-led government at the centre for job crisis in the country and PM Modi's statement over self-employment.
Dozens of NSUI members gathered outside RC college in Bengaluru shouting slogans against the union government. Protestors set up a make shift stall making and selling pakodas. A man dressed in black gown- representing the educated youth of the country- sat on the road making pakodas as part of the protest.
"PM Modi said that those selling Pakodas should also be considered as Employed. This is the state of graduates in the country. He promised us jobs but where are the iobs? His comments give youngsters no hope," said Jayendra Shahi, NSUI leader.
The BJP said that NSUI protest mocking PM Modi was "a deliberate attempt of misunderstanding his statements". PM Modi when asked about rising concerns of unemployment, in an interview to a television channel, had said that those selling pakodas should also be considered employed.
