A woman and her brother were assaulted by a drunk mob of revellers on New Year's Eve in Bengaluru in a case of road rage. A CCTV footage that surfaced on Tuesday purportedly shows an incident that took place on the night of December 31, 2017, in Indiranagar locality of Bengaluru.
Despite heavy police presence and heightened security measures, the CCTV footage shows how a mob, in an inebriated state, assaulted the duo after their bike accidentally brushed against one of the gang members. The video shows a gang of inebriated revellers dancing in the middle of the road, stopping vehicles and forcefully wishing people. The duo, whose identity has not been revealed, was passing through the road when they were stopped by the mob.
The duo, said to be from Darjeeling, were assaulted by the mob after a gang member alleged that their bike had brushed against him. The video shows how the mob slaps, punches and even assaults the duo, including a girl with beer bottles. The rider of the bike is seen pleading with the mob, apologising but the assault does not stop.

One person involved in the incident has been arrested and the police are on the lookout for others. The gang has been booked for assault as well. The incident is a grim reminder of alleged mass molestation cases in Bengaluru's central business district last year around the same time. Another CCTV footage of a girl being molested by two men on a bike had also gone viral last year. This time around, the Bengaluru police had heightened security in localities like Central Business district, Koramangala, Indiranagar etc.
