Bengaluru: Man dupes Flipkart of Rs 1.5 lakh, arrested

Bengaluru, Nov 18: After a techie from Hyderabad, now a man from Bengaluru cheated e commerce giant Flipkart. The online retailers has been duped of Rs 1.5 lakh.

The accused was identified as 33-year-old Ramesh Kumar. Police arrested him following a legal complaint filed by Shivarama Krishna, a representative of Flipkart.

The complainant claimed that the accused, who was running Nandi Electronics in the city, a vendor of car stereo systems with Flipkart.

It has been reported that the accused allegedly took orders for branded stereo systems and then returned it to Flipkart, claiming that the address of the person, who ordered online, was not traceable.

Though he quoted high prices for branded systems through Flipkart, he returned low-cost, sub-standard speakers, media reported stated.

Police sources were quoted as saying, "Investigations revealed that he had multiple phone numbers and email accounts and furnished residential addresses that did not exist."

"After placing the order, he packed low-quality speakers and returned it to Flipkart, saying the address was not traceable. At the time of sending the products to Flipkart, he would pack inferior quality speakers, and pocket the amount that he quoted on the company website. He has cheated the company to the tune of Rs 1.5 lakh."

Earlier a techie from Hyderabad duped Flipkart of Rs 20 lakh. He too had taken advantage of the return policy of the company.
