Bengal cyber security centre: What all it will offer
"This will be not just a cyber forensic lab for any post-cyber crime but will also work for prevention and restoration of systems post-crime, which will be unique," head of the state's e-governance mission team Abhishek Roy told PTI.
Asked about the estimated cost for the project, Roy said, "Currently the detailed project report (DPR) is under way and so the capital expenditure cannot be ascertained now. But government is working fast to float a tender for a system integrator for the project shortly."
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had recently announced the setting up of the West Bengal Cyber Security Centre of Excellence to deal with the increasing cyber-offences in the state.
"It will be an apex body for dealing with all cyber-security related issues including creating awareness among common people on threats associated with it," she had said.
The state is also planning to introduce courses on cyber crime and data science or analytics in colleges, state IT secretary Tallen Kumar said.
Roy said the state government is also working on several projects on e-governance to bring all services of the government, be it for public or industry, through a single window.
