The article talks about questionable new corporate partnerships of BBC with Huawei, a Chinese tech giant which faces ban in US and the UK over security concerns.

New Delhi, Jan 31: Amid controversy over BBC documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rajya BJP MP Mahesh Jethmalani has claimed that the British broadcaster is following the Chinese agenda.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Taking to Twitter, Mahesh Jethmalani said "apart from publishing a truncated map of India w/o J&K until 2021 when it apologised to the Indian govt and corrected the map, BBC has a long history of spreading disinformation against India. The anti PM documentary is a continuation of this malafide trend."

"Why is BBC so anti-India? Because it needs money desperately enough to take it from Chinese state linked Huawei & pursue the latter's agenda It's a simple cash-for-propaganda deal. BBC is up for sale," he added.

Along with the tweet Jethmalani posted The Spectator report headlined: BBC still taking money from sanctioned Huawei.

The article talks about questionable new corporate partnerships of BBC with Huawei, a Chinese tech giant which faces ban in US and the UK over security concerns.

"The BBC, which is still taking Huawei's money to fund its overseas journalism. Adverts displayed on BBC.com this week show adverts paid and presented by Huawei boasting about 'The new frontier of education: How can we bridge the education gap and bring bright young minds into the digital future?' The adverts gush how 'UNESCO and Huawei are focused on closing the digital divide' and writes glowingly about Huawei's tech initiatives," The Spectator report states.

The BBC documentary titled "India: The Modi Question" claims to have investigated the 2002 Gujarat riots when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the chief minister of the state.

However, India thrashed the report saying "propaganda piece" that lacked objectivity and reflected a "colonial mindset".

Several BJP leaders, judges and eminent personalities have claimed that the BBC is part of a conspiracy to sabotage India's ascendancy at the global stage.

The Centre had banned Twitter and YouTube links sharing the BBC documentary invoking its power to use Information Technology Rules, 2021, to take down any content in emergency situations, where a delay is not acceptable.
