The protesters demanded an increased compensation as well as permanent employment for Anji's son at the park.

However, the protest was withdrawn only after BBP officials assured them that his family would be paid Rs 10 lakh compensation and his son would be given a job at BBP on compassionate grounds.

Preliminary investigations by park authorities and police personnel show that Anjeneya had not latched the gate of the enclosure properly.

The incident happened on Saturday at around 7 pm when Anji went into the enclosure to feed the tigers and check if they had returned from the safari area. However, he delayed closing the gate. That was when one of tigers attacked him, and dragged him out into the safari area. The forest staff in the vicinity heard his cries for help but when they realise it was too late. He died on the spot.
