Ban on Tipu Jayanthi- Redress grievance before government says Karnataka HC
The court today observed that since the decision to celebrate Tipu Jayanthi on November 10 was a policy decision of the government, it would not interfere.
The Karnataka High Court today directed a petitioner who sought a ban on the Tipu Jayanthi celebrations to redress his grievance before the government. While disposing off the petition a Division Bench headed by Chief Justice, S K Mukherjee told the petitioner to go before the Chief Secretary and redress his grievance.

It may be recalled that the High Court had orally observed on Wednesday that Tipu was not a freedom fighter, but a king. The CJ made this observation citing history.
The court today observed that since the decision to celebrate Tipu Jayanthi on November 10 was a policy decision of the government, it would not interfere. The court also set November 8 as the deadline for the Chief Secretary to decide on the matter. The Chief Secretary was directed to take a decision after weighing the merits of the case. Earlier the Advcocate General submitted that the decision to celebrate Tipu Jayanthi was taken a cabinet meeting.
