Baliga murder: Why BJP member Vedavyas Kamath goes into hiding

Mangaluru, June 14: Perhaps contradicting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vow to the people of the nation- 'zero tolerance towards corruption'; Mangaluru South, BJP General Secretary, Vedavyas Kamath has clandestinely slipped into hiding fearing enquiry in RTI activist Vinayak Baliga Murder case.

This move by one of the top members of the BJP in the district falls after accused in Baliga case, Manju Neereshwallya underwent police custody before securing a conditional bail from Judicial Magistrate First Class Court. Manju has revealed to the cops alleged involvement of Vedayas Kamath in protecting the main accused, top Yuva Brigade leader, Naresh Shenoy.

According to sources in the police department, Manju has informed during several hours of interrogation that Vedavyas Kamath allegedly acted as middle man between Naresh Shenoy and some police officers in the department to choke deal in order to divert the case from the direction it is moving at present.

Manju shockingly disclosed that Vedavyas Kamath allegedly bribed some police officers to the tune of Rs 50 lacks and also paid an influential astrologer-cum-seer Rs 18 lacs at the behest of Naresh Shenoy to affect the investigation.

Moreover, sources told OneIndia that, Manju and Vedavyas Kamath bought two unauthorised SIM card producing fake identity cards on March 25 from a boy belonging to GSB community at Koteshwara of Kundapur Taluk. It was purchased while Kamath was harboring Naresh Shenoy to Goa through land route.

Sources in the GSB community say Kamath has collected huge amount of money from wealthy community members citing the reason as Naresh has been falsely framed in the case and support from the community at this level is imminent.

None currently in know of whereabouts of Kamath. However one source said he might have been hiding in abroad, while other source say he is underground in India itself. After accused Manju grilled by the police, Kamath went into hiding to avoid possible enquiry. In all possibility, Kamath could be in touch with Naresh Shenoy, sources in the police department opine, considering his sudden absence from the coastal district and based on Manju's revelations.

However this also explains the deafening silence of the state and district BJP in the Baliga murder, who is also an ardent supporter of Narendra Modi, while alleged killings of Bajrang Dal members in the state becomes prominent issues for the BJP.

The top leadership in the state also has a responsibility to explain its stand on Baliga murder in which names of BJP members are allegedly propping up to keep Modi's promise intact, opine section of the BJP in the district.
