Cyclone Asani makes landfall in coastal Andhra Pradesh, weakens into deep depression

New Delhi, May 12: The severe cyclonic storm Asani crossed the coast between Machilipatnam and Narsapur on Wednesday evening as a deep depression. The deep depression has now weakened into a depression on Thursday. The system is likely to weaken further into a well-marked low-pressure area in the next 12 hours.

As per the projections, the storm is very likely to move north-northeastwards along Yanam, Kakinada and Tuni coasts till the early hours of May 12, Thursday. The system is expected to further weaken into a depression by Thursday morning. The intensity of wind speeds will also drop to 45-50 kmph.
