Army personnel allegedly beat up policemen in Kashmir; six injured
The police have registered an FIR (No. 18/2017) under section 147,148, 307, 323, 332, 353, 452, and 102.
Six policemen including an assistant sub-inspector have been injured after they were allegedly beaten up by Army personnel in the Gund area of central Kashmir. The altercation reportedly took place on Friday night when the policemen allegedly stopped the vehicle at a check post area.
The police said that the vehicle carrying personnel of the 24 RR were stopped as part of a routine check. The Army personnel allegedly got down from the vehicle and roughed up the police personnel.
Some reports indicate that the police were saved by the locals. It was further alleged that some Army personnel even entered into an altercation at the police station. The matter has been taken up with the Army which has assured of a thorough inquiry into the incident.
