AP: 13-year-old boy married to 23-year-old woman to fulfill mother’s dying wish

In a shocking incident, a 13-year-old boy has been married off to a 23-year-old woman at Upparahal village in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district in April.

The police came to know about it only after the photographs of the ceremony went viral.

The marriage, which took place on April 27, was arranged reportedly because of the ill health of mother.

According to reports, the woman's husband is an alcoholic and she was allegedly worried about her son. She wanted somebody to look after him after her death. She believed that the family would at least have somebody to take care of domestic chores if her eldest son was married off to an adult woman. Eventually, they found a girl through relatives.

The bride is daughter of a couple from Chanikaur village in Karnataka's Bellary district.

Both the families are reportedly absconding ever since the marriage which came to light. The police are searching for them and the joint collector has ordered a probe.
