Another complaint filed against Rajkummar's Newton for maligning CRPF's image

Rajkummar Rao-starrer comedy-drama film 'Newton' seems to have caught up in another legal battle. A Delhi court on Saturday admitted the complaint filed by a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) sub-inspector for "depicting CRPF in poor light".

Another complaint against Rajkummars Newton for maligning CRPFs image

Earlier on Feb 6, 2018,another CRPF sub-inspector Tamal Sanyal had filed a criminal complaint and a civil defamation case against the makers of Bollywood movie 'Newton' in the lead role for allegedly portraying the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in poor light.

He demanded a public apology from the producers. The National Coordination Committee that represents the country's retired paramilitary officers, also filed a plea against the movie- Newton and wrote to the Election Commission regarding the same.

In his complaint, Sanyal sought for deletion of scenes from the movie and thereby, its re-release. He alleged that were false attributions made by the makers of Newton which would harm the image of country's paramilitary force.

'Newton', starring Raj Kumar Rao in lead role, deals with the story of a government clerk who was sent for poll duty in Naxal-hit area of Chhattisgarh. It was India's official entry for the Oscars' Best Foreign Language Film category last year.
