Amit Shah's gaffe: Calls Mohammed Nalapad's assault case victim a 'BJP worker'
A Bengaluru Court on Monday sent Youth Congress leader Mohammed Haris Nalapad to two-days police custody.
BJP president Amit Shah seems obsessed with the case involving Karnataka Congress MLA's son Mohammed Haris Nalapad who has been accused of assaulting a youth, Vidwath, in Bengaluru. After trying to give a communal colour to the entire incident during his speech in Sullia, Dakshina Kannada District, Shah in Bantwal went one step ahead and called Vidwath "a BJP party worker".
"There has been continous attack on our party workers. Vidwath is also a BJP party worker. In order to appease minorities, an FIR was not registered against Congress MLA Harris's son, despite the assault on a youth in Bengaluru," he reportedly said in Bantwal on Tuesday.
However, during a press meet later, Shah clarified that Vidwath was not a member of BJP.
Shah, during his speech in Sullia, hinted that Nalapad case was not being thoroughly probed to 'appease' certain groups.
"Appeasement and polarisation here reflects in example where son of MLA Haris thrashed a man but there was no FIR. Why? Not only bcoz he's Haris's son but because it involves appeasement of groups," Shah said

A Bengaluru Court on Monday sent Youth Congress leader Mohammed Haris Nalapad to two-days police custody. Nalapad had earlier on Monday surrendered before the police. He was on Sunday expelled as the Bengaluru District Youth Congress General Secretary after it emerged that he allegedly thrashed Vidwath in a restaurant in Bengaluru.
