All you want to know about IIT JEE (Advance) 2017

The details regarding the exam were announced after a meeting of the Joint Admission Board (JAB) held at IIT, Madras, on September 18. Those who clear the national level exam will be eligible to study in one of the 18 IITs, the Indian School of Mines (ISM) and other well-known engineering colleges across the country.

Remodeling of IIT JEE entrance exam

The entrance exam to the prestigious IITs will see several changes in the coming session. For 2017, 20,000 more candidates will be eligible to write the JEE (Advanced) after clearing JEE (Main), thus taking the total up to 2,20,000.

The Human Resource Development (HRD) ministry has taken a significant decision to encourage more students from the SC and ST communities to write the test. The cut-off for the aggregate marks in Class 12 for SC and ST candidates has been reduced from 70 per cent to 65 per cent.

In the coming year, students from foreign countries will be allowed to take admission in the IITs after clearing the test.

The organisers of the test will provide short video tutorials and SMS services to make the admission, fee payment and result announcement, to name a few procedures, hassle free for the students.
