Patna, Mar 03: Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his election campaign in Bihar on Sunday by launching a scathing attack on opposition parties for questioning the recent air strike in Pakistan.

"When the country needed to speak in one voice, 21 opposition parties gathered in Delhi to adopt a resolution condemning us. They are demanding proof from the armed forces for their act of bravery," the PM said at the BJP's Sankalp rally at Gandhi Maidan here.

In a jibe at Congress president Rahul Gandhi over his incessant use of term 'watchman' against him, PM Modi said "These days a competition is underway to abuse the 'Chowkidaar', but you be assured, this 'Chowkidaar' of yours is as alert as ever.

Taking a dig at Lalu Prasad Yadav, the Prime Minister said, "What has happened in the name of fodder, the people of Bihar know very well. We (NDA) have shown the courage to turn off the culture of plunder, theft, lies and deceit and also eliminated middlemen from government work."

In a strong attack on Opposition, Modi said, "They say finish Modi, I say finish terrorism. They say defeat Modi's government, we say let's defeat poverty and corruption."

PM Modi said, "The constituents of ' Maha Adulteration ' live just for their selfishness, no one cares for them. If there is "great adulteration" in the country, there would not be judgment nor welfare of the poor. The tendency of these people is to develop, not to develop the country."

On IAF strikes, PM Modi "This is new India, which is now moving forward with new order and new policy. Now India will not remain silent on the sacrifice of its heroic soldiers. India will not tolerate attacks on its motherland."

Speaking of his government's efforts for the upliftment of Bihar, PM Modi said, "The NDA government of the Centre has made unremitting efforts to speed up the momentum for the development of Bihar. A few days ago, a gift of over Rs 30,000 crore projects in Barauni was given to Bihar. This was a glimpse of the continuing efforts being made for the development of Bihar."

The March 3 rally is reportedly an effort to show full faith and confidence in the Prime Minister for handling the post-Pulwama crisis, which culminated in India's "non-military" air strikes on Pakistan's Balakot to demolish JeM camps, state presidents of the parties had said on Friday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar came together on a stage for the first time in ten years, at ruling coalition NDA's Sankalp rally, held in Patna, on Sunday.

Kumar had cancelled a dinner hosted for BJP leaders a decade ago when advertisements appeared in local newspapers wherein he was shown holding hands with Modi, the then chief minister of Gujarat.

Kumar snapped 17-year-old ties with the BJP in 2013 when it became amply clear that the party would fight the Lok Sabha polls with Modi as its face.

Kumar, however, returned to the NDA in 2017 after a short-lived alliance with arch-rival Lalu Prasad's RJD.
