Shocking! Airlines cash in on Jat protest, charges 'whopping fares' from passengers
New Delhi, Feb 22: Amid ongoing Jat protest in Haryana and Delhi-NCR, a shocking news has come to fore. Reportedly airlines are fleecing harried passengers who are stranded in affected areas like Chandigarh, Jaipur and Amritsar.
As the Airlines authorities have fair idea that due to Jat agitation all roads and railways routes are disturbed, they are charging double and triple amount from the passengers. Shockingly, air fares on these routes have shot up to lakh.
According to Zee News reports, business class tickets in Jet Airways' Chandigarh-Delhi flight were selling at Rs 99,140 on Saturday. Normally, air fares for these routes lie in the range of Rs 3,000 and Rs 4,000.
When an NRI passenger from Patiala was asked about the same he was found whimpering. He said that as he had to catch a flight to Canada , he had no option but to pay more .
However, Air India has capped fares on some routes where rail and road routes are badly affected .
"AI is charging a nominal all-inclusive fare. The one-way fare between Delhi and Chandigarh is Rs 3,339 while it is Rs 3,960 between Delhi and Amritsar," Air India said in its statement.
