AIIMS official Sanjiv Chaturvedi donates award money for the care of patients
New Delhi, Sept 23: Whistleblower Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer and the deputy secretary of AIIMS, Sanjiv Chaturvedi, who recently became a proud recipient of prestigious Ramon Magsaysay award has donated all the money for the care of poor patients at AIIMS.
As per a report published in TOI, Chaturvedi received Rs 19.85 lakh as award money out of which Rs 5.63 lakh was deposited as advance tax.
Established in 1957, the Ramon Magsaysay Award is Asia's highest honour and is widely regarded as the region's equivalent of the Nobel Prize.
Chaturvedi has written a letter to the AIIMS director saying, "I request that a separate register may be maintained under the supervision of medical superintendent to record complete detail of the patients and financial assistance granted to them, in a transparent manner so that the said amount could be utilized in most effective manner."

He
served
as
the
Chief
Vigilance
Officer
(CVO)
at
AIIMS
for
two
years.
In
August
2014,
he
was
unceremoniously
removed
as
the
CVO,
before
the
completion
of
his
tenure.
A 2002-batch officer, Chaturvedi's cadre was recently changed to Uttarakhand from Haryana. Chaturvedi has been transferred 12 times in last five years and he is known for raising voice against corruption and wrong doers.
