After the T T V Dinakaran faction decided to withdraw support to the E Palanisami government, 19 MLAs have been moved to a resort in Puducherry. Reports suggest that they have booked two resorts and the MLAs would be kept there until a floor test is held.

AIADMK merged: Panneerselvam goes to secretariat, Dinakaran loyalists to Governor

Earlier, 19 MLAs of the party supporting TTV Dinakaran made a representation to Tamil Nadu governor Vidhyasagar Rao. In a memorandum submitted to the Governor, all 19 MLAs have withdrawn their support to Edappadi Palanisamy government and have sought a new Chief Minister. This while, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam made preparations to assume office at the Tamil Nadu secretariat.

A day after two factions of the AIADMK merged, working president of DMK M K Stalin has asked Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy to prove his majority. Stalin, in a letter to Governor Vidhyasagar Rao, has asked for a floor test in the Tamil Nadu assembly alleging that 22 MLAs from the AIADMK have withdrawn their support to the current government.
19 MLAs submitted a memorandum that Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy forfeited their confidence.

Here are the key highlights of the memorandum

  • Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy forfeited my confidence and that of the public.
  • I withdraw my earlier support given to Palanisamy
  • In February, I had supported Palanisamy at the time of floor test in order to prove majority
  • Slowly, I got disillusioned with the functioning of Palanisamy government
  • There is abuse of power, favouritism, misuse of government machinery and corruption
  • Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisami is corrupt Panneerselvam called the government corrupt but is now inducted into it
  • I express lack of confidence on Edappadi Palanisamy
  • I have not given up membership of AIADMK but am exposing abuse and misuse of the constitutional provision
  • The dream and vision of Jayalalithaa is totally ignored
  • I cannot support Palanisamy and seek your interference

With the support of 19 MLAs and one MP, TTV Dinakaran poses a threat to the Edappadi Palanisamy government. DMK's M K Stalin on Tuesday said that two more MLAs were on the verge of withdrawing their support to Palanisamy threatening his government further.

Dinakaran despite having solid support has refused to speak to the media till Wednesday when the AIADMK has called for a general body meeting. A resolution against Sasikala Natrajan is expected to be adopted at the meeting.

Dinakaran will react depending on the decision taken at the General council meet. Sasikala Natarajan can only, according to party by-laws, be expelled from the party through the resolution route by the general council.
