Two MLAs of the TTV Dinakaran camp were photographed playing on a seesaw at a resort in Puducherry where they are lodged. Inadvertently, the MLAs painted the perfect picture of the political scenario in Tamil Nadu with factions of the AIADMK indulging in one-upmanship.

AIADMK crisis: It is a political seesaw at the resort

MLA Tangatamilselvan along with another legislator was snapped enjoying their time at the resort even as students of Tamil Nadu protested over NEET on Thursday. Drought, farmer suicide, Cauvery issue and petrochemical protests at Neduvasal are burning up the state but 19 MLAs lodged in Puducherry are spending time indulging in games and exploring amenities at the four-star beach-facing resort. This is the second time in less than six months that AIADMK MLAs have been herded at a luxury resort while people continue to suffer.

Meanwhile, back in Chennai, in a desperate attempt to either get the support of MLAs from the TTV Dinakaran camp or disqualify them from voting in the house, the chief whip of the AIADMK S Rajendran appealed to the speaker to act against the 19 MLAs. He told the media that the 19 MLAs had acted against the party and action should be taken against them for the same. "19 MLAs have acted against the interest of the party. They have taken a decision in their individual capacity. They did not approach me. Only the speaker has the power to take action but I can recommend. I recommend that the 19 MLAs are disqualified," said S Rajendran, the chief whip, of the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly.

Speaker Danapal has issued noticed to all 19 MLAs from the Dinakaran faction. The speaker has sought an explanation from legislators on AIADMK's request to disqualify them.

The TTV Dinakaran camp, however, was undeterred and have said that they will seek the court's intervention if the whip acts. Dinakaran's advocates have held that the current whip's tenure was already completed and he was not in a position to issue whips.

On Thursday, Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy and his deputy O Panneerselvam have called for a meeting of all party functionaries. Palanisamy has appealed for unity and intends to call for a general council meet to oust Sasikala Natarajan. TTV Dinakaran, on the other hand, intends to approach the court if a general council is called.

As AIADMK crisis continues, three independent MLAs are on the verge of announcing their support to TTV Dinakaran taking the number of legislators in his camp to 22. Another MLA from the Palanisamy camp, Rathnasabapathy extended his support to TTV Dinakaran on Thursday bringing down the number in Palanisamy camp to 111.
