After power cut, doctors perform surgery under torchlight at Andhra hospital
Photos and videos of doctors performing surgery under torchlight is doing several rounds n social media. The incident happened on February 7, at the Government General Hospital in Andhra Pradesh's Guntur district.
After power supply was cut, the doctors were in the middle of the plastic surgery of the woman, since the administration took long time to restore it, the doctors decided to use torchlight and continue with the surgery. The surgeons faced a similar predicament on February 14 while performing another surgery. Luckily, both the patients survived the trauma and are doing well.
The hospital administration took a long time to restore the power suppy from a standby generator.
The icnident came to light, after doctors who were vexed with the hospital administrations in delaying the electricity supply system in operation theatres, leaked the video to the media.
This isn't for the first time, even in 2016, doctors at one of Hyderabad's biggest hospitals - the Gandhi Hospital -- admitted that they had to work in the light of mobile phones in the middle of a critical operation that involved the removal of an infected part of one's intestine.
