New Delhi, Dec 5: The issue of nasbandi is back to haunt the Indian politics.
During Emergency, 'nasbandi' (sterilisation) caused Congress' downfall.
Now, BJP leader and Minister of State of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises, Giriraj Singh, wants mass sterilisation to control population.
"We need a strong law for controlling population for the sake of progress and national interest," Giriraj Singh, BJP, told ANI.

Singh also made a comparison between demonetisation and sterilisation.
"PM Modi took the demonetisation decision to curb black money. Similarly for development we need strong law to control population," Singh added.

Reacting on Singh's comment, Janata Dal (United) leader Ali Anwar said, "Bade paimaane pe nasbandi hone ki yojana laagu hogi ki nhi lekin BJP ki toh nasbandi ho jayegi is yojana se (We don't know if the BJP will take up sterilisation measures in a big way, but with this measure 'nasbandi' of the BJP is sure to happen)."

However, the BJP said that these are Singh's personal opinions and the party or the government has nothing to this.

"There is no doubt that the population of this country is rising. To reduce the population growth, there must be an awareness and advertisement. From NGOs to political parties and everyone should come forward to spread the cause and create awareness to control the population," BJP leader Rahul Sinha told ANI.
