In an attempt to keep the party together, Kejriwal, who held a meeting with councillors, warned them of BJP's intent to poach them.

He made the councillors swear that they would not desert the party.

Reports say that he urged them to keep fighting against corruption, but did not point out specific reasons for party's loss.

AAP MLA Alka Lamba had on Wednesday claimed that she was offered a Lok Sabha ticket by the BJP and accused the saffron party of trying to poach AAP legislators. She said that BJP was luring AAP legislators plum posts.

In 2015, prominent AAP leader Shazia Ilmi had switched sides to the BJP following which she was appointed as an independent director with Engineers India Ltd, a Public Sector Undertaking.

Following the poor show in MCD polls, AAP's Punjab in-charge Sanjay Singh stepped down from his post.

The BJP won 181 of the 270 wards of the three municipal corporations in Delhi. The AAP could manage only 48 seats.
