After Delhi, now in Andhra Pradesh: Farmer attempts suicide during CM's rally
Vizianagaram, Apr 7: Tension prevailed for some time after a farmer tried to commit suicide during Andhra Pradesh Chief Minster N Chandrababu Naidu's public meeting at Narsipuram village in Parvathipuram mandal of the district, police said here on May 6.
According to the police, when the Chief Minister was addressing the meeting as part of his 'Neeru-Chettu' programme, a farmer named Ramu from nearby Chinbhogili village of Sitaphal mandal reached the spot with pesticide.
When Naidu was addressing the public, the farmer consumed pesticide in public view, creating a commotion and forcing the CM to stop the meeting for a while, police said.
The distressed farmer tried to end his life because local Village Development Officer (VDO) had been allegedly harassing him for a long time. He was immediately taken to a local hospital where his condition is stated to be serious, police said.
