'Adopt poor kids to get votes': Anandiben Patel tells BJP leaders
Madhya Pradesh governor Anandiben Patel has reportedly asked BJP leaders of a town in MP to adopt poor and malnourished kids to garner votes for the saffron party.
An undated video of Anandiben Patel purportedly offering advice to Bharatiya Janata Party workers on how to secure votes is doing the rounds on social media.
In the video Patel can be heard saying "Votes will not come just like that, "Go to villages, sit with them and show some care. You will only get votes when you adopt needy and malnourished children, she said.
Furthering the electoral cause of the ruling BJP in MP, Anandiben then asks party workers to work hard to realize PM Modi's dreams.
"Run a campaign for children's welfare. It is not that tough. Do this if you want to fulfil PM Modi's 2022 vision," she adds.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government aims to ensure houses for the poor, access to electricity, healthcare, sanitation and education and improve farmers' incomes by 2022.
The opposition has accused Ms Patel of misusing her constitutional post to further the electoral cause of the ruling BJP in MP, where Assembly elections will be held later this year.
pic.twitter.com/mf02CDIHgT

"With such statements, the office of governor loses its respect and dignity," Congress Rajya Sabha MP Vivek Tankha said in a tweet.
