Chandigarh, Nov 25: The upright IAS officer Ashok Khemka from Haryana cadre has finally got his dues. The Haryana Government on Monday promoted him as State Transport Commissioner.

As a part of bureaucratic reshuffle by the newly elected BJP Government, Khemka has been promoted as State Transport Commissioner.

"Taken over as Transport Commissioner, Haryana today. Looking forward to bringing improvement in the transport sector," Khemka tweeted on Monday after taking over the post.

Khemka had faced wrath for speaking against Congress president Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra in illegal land deals in Haryana. The previous Congress Government shifted out him as director general of State Consolidation and Land Reclamation Department after he highlighted the shortfalls of the mutation in the land deal between Robert Vadra and DLF reality.

In 2013, Khemka had alleged that Vadra "falsified documents" for 3.53 acres of land in Gurgaon, Haryana and took a large premium on a commercial colony licence.

Khemka, 49, had been working as Director General, Archive, in Haryana since then. In January, the Haryana Government recommended a CBI probe into a contract awarded by Khemka to a Gujarat firm in 2009.

The 1991-batch IAS officer has alleged that he was punished by the Congress Government in Haryana and at the Centre for scrapping the Vadra deal.

Khemka was transferred over 45 times in his 23-year career as a civil servant.

Along with Khemka, another whistleblower officer Pradeep Kasni who had highlighted anomalies in the appointment of commissioners has also been made Gurgaon's new divisional commissioner.
