Abolition of confession: Malankara Orthodox Church to protest against NCW on Aug 5
Kochi, July 28: A day after sending a memorandum to PM Narendra Modi, Malankara Orthodox church has decided to observe protest against the National Commission for Women's proposal to abolish the practice of confessions in church. Kerala Catholic Bishops Council sent a memorandum to Union Government regarding NCW's proposal on Friday.
Archbishop of Latin Archdiocese of Trivandrum, Soosai Pakiam, told ANI, "NCW chairperson shouldn't dictate that you abolish this."
The National Commission for Women has said that the government must intervene to abolish the practice of confessions in Churches as they come in the way of security and safety of women. The observations were made while submitting a report on the two sex scandals in Churches in Kerala.
The Commission has sought a probe by a Central agency into the two sex scandals.
