Aarushi murder case: No appeal from CBI yet against acquittal of Rajesh, Nupur Talwar
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has not appealed against Allahabad High Court's order that acquitted Rajesh and Nupur Talwar in Aarushi-Hemraj Murder Case.
The agency had 90 days to appeal but the top officials are yet to take a call on it.
The two were acquitted on 12 October 2017 by a bench of Justice BK Narayana and Justice AK Mishra of the Allahabad High Court.
In December last year, the wife of victim Hemraj had challenged the HC's verdict in Supreme Court. Challenging the verdict, Hemraj's wife contended that the high court order meant that no one killed the two in 2008 and sought that the guilty must be punished.
Her petition had said it was the primary responsibility of the government and authorities to ensure that the culprit was brought to book as society would not be secure if no one was punished.
