After MCD, debacle within AAP as string of leaders resign
Lamba had on Wednesday offered to resign following AAP's debacle in MCD polls.
The Aam Aadmi Party is heading towards a major crisis with its Punjab in-charge Sanjay Singh and Delhi MLA Alka Lamba resigning from their posts following party's poor show in MCD polls.
Lamba had on Wednesday claimed that she was offered a Lok Sabha ticket by the BJP and accused the saffron party of trying to poach AAP legislators, said reports. She said that BJP was luring AAP legislators plum posts.
In 2015, prominent AAP leader Shazia Ilmi had switched sides to the BJP following which she appointed as an independent director with Engineers India Ltd, a public sector undertaking.
Lamba had tweeted following AAP's debacle in MCD polls that she took moral responsibility for party's defeat in all the three wards of her constituency.
The BJP won 181 of the 270 wards of the three municipal corporations in Delhi. The BJP won 64 of 103 wards in North, 70 of 104 in South and 47 of 63 in East.
