Ashish Khetan hits back, says Prashant Bhushan made Rs 500 cr from PILs
New Delhi, April 21: A day after expelled AAP leader Prashant Bhushan accused Ashish Khetan of indulging in paid news, former journalist on Tuesday questioned the source of his wealth. He also called the filing of Public Interest Litigations (PIL) as an industry.
"The Bhushan family has over Rs.500 crore worth property. I want to know whether this has been earned through PILs. If this is the case, then filing PIL is a big industry," Khetan has been quoted as saying in India Today report.
Earlier on Monday, the AAP expelled Bhushan and his fellow dissidents for anti-party activities.
Bhushan, a senior SC lawyer and India's best-known public interest litigant, on Monday criticised party leadership over the show-cause notice issued to him by the National Disciplinary Committee (NDC).
He accused party leaders Pankaj Gupta of accepting donations from dubious companies and Ashish Khetan of doing a "paid news" story, favouring a company.
He accused Khetan of writing a "planted" story and added that instead of sacking the former journalist, Khetan has now been rewarded by being appointed as the chairperson of the Delhi Dialogue commission and as a member of the National Disciplinary committee.
