Aadhaar information in public: Is there privacy left, asks Sakshi Dhoni

A debate rages on whether Aadhaar compromises privacy or not. Can government agencies put out information regarding Aadhaar registration out on public domain?

M S Dhoni's personal details were put on display on Twitter by CSC-e-governance, an agency that renders Aadhaar registration, and his wife Sakshi is livid.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad had tweeted information that Aadhaar service had been delivered to Dhoni. CSC e-governance on their official Twitter page put a picture containing an application form of Dhoni.

Sakshi, was however, livid when she came across the tweet. She tweeted to Prasad, "Is there any privacy left? Information of Aadhaar card including application is made public property. Disappointed."

Prasad responded, "No it is not a public property. Does this Tweet divulge any personal information?" Sakshi then sent out a screenshot of the photo put up by CSC e-governance in which information of her husband's Aadhaar card information was put up.

Prasad immediately thanked her for bringing this to his notice. "Thanks for bringing this to my notice. Sharing personal information is illegal. Serious action will be taken against this," Prasad tweeted back.
