A survey in K’taka suggests porn viewing provokes rape!

Bengaluru, Mar 8: Has viewing porn contents impact sexual behaviour of humans or more precisely, has porn videos provoke male to indulge in the act of rape? A survey conducted by an NGO in the state of Karnataka says yes.

A survey that has been carried out by an NGO named Rescue, covering 183 colleges in the state suggests watching porn contents or porn films drive men to rape. In other words the survey draws link between watching porn and rapes.

The conclusive summery of the collected data from 10 districts of Karnataka has been provided to OneIndia. The CEO of the Rescue, Abishek Clifford sent this data through E-mail.

The survey has questioned as many as 3,500 students, both male and female falling in the age group of 16 to 21. According to the result of the survey, 66% of boys pursuing graduation watch porn for 7 hours a week, while 30 % of females of same age view porn for 5 hours a week on an average. The time length of the viewing, however picks up gradually in 9 years after students being introduced to porn in tender age itself.

As many as 30% of the boys watch violent porn content and according to the survey most of the videos that fall into the prism of 'violent nature' are 'rape-like videos'. These boys watch 19 rape type videos in a mere week's span.

Annually, this study suggests that 1, 70,000 new students start watching violent porn videos. Astonishingly during by the time they reach PUC (Pre University Education) and Degree each student would watch 4, 900 rape-like videos.

The number of students between the age group 16-21 watching porn every day in Karnataka is staggering and is averagely calculated as 2,300,000.

Large section of youth think porn is progressive and addictive. 84% among respondents in the survey felt porn is progressive and addictive. 83% students opined that porn leads to sexual activities, while 74% said it inspire to go to prostitutes to enjoy sexual pleasure.

A key part of the survey lies on this data, with 76 % of the respondents agreeing that porn leads one to desire to rape. This is truly a hard fact to digest. The survey observes that even if 10% from the porn watchers actually desire to rape, then the porn is training as many as 13, 000 new rapists a year.

The survey also spots light on teen porn content. The data suggests 30% of the boys prefer to watch teen porn and 68% of websites contain teen porn. The study also says 9, 30,000 boys are demanding teen porn.

The study observes that many teenage girls are being abducted for teen pornography and it is due to this constantly growing demands.

On the other hand 20% of the students from PUC and Graduation go to prostitutes demanding teenage girls to satisfy sexual urge shaped through porn videos thus fuelling human trafficking.
