New Delhi, Sept 14: Having children or a family did not stop this young woman from pursuing her adventurous dreams. Pallavi Fauzdar, 35, from New Delhi would be the first woman to pass 8 of Himalayan mountain passes, 5,000 above sea level and has entered the Limca Book of records. Born in Agra and married to an Army man Parikshit Misra, Pallavi is a popular fashion-designer by profession.

But when she is not engaged in designing jewellery, she is working on routes and ways to invade new territories. She has now become the first woman to have ridden across so many Himalayan passes.

Riding an avenger, she is also said to have travelled to cities like Bangalore, Lucknow, Manali, Udhampur, Srinagar, Jammu and Punjab. She completed her next venture of travelling across the Himalayas in 16 days and crossing through passes that even men haven't.

She had two main agendas behind this expedition-one to prove that women can travel alone and do not need anyone's help or guidance, second to show that nothing is unachievable for women.

Although she was resisted by her family members, her husband supported her and accompanied her with a different bike in case her bike failed. But it was tough in a different way altogether. "Leaving the kids, just nine and six years old, behind was very tough, especially when you gained altitude and could not haer their voices over the phone due to connectivity issues.

The expenses of the trip were humongous, said Pallavi. She explained saying that the price of Petrol went up as high as Rs 500 per litre in remote areas.

"But I had to prove a woman could do it too, with courage and determination. I have now travelled to the Satatola and Horila passes, that no male biker has been to, either. It's funny and weird, but when I finished my fifth pass above 5000 metres, after which I made the record, I was not satisfied. I wanted more. So I went for three more, and have a record for covering eight Himalayan passes, all above 5,000 metres, in 16 days".
