A horse stable, swimming academy among many assets in Hafiz Saeed’s kitty
A horse breeding stable, swimming academy, martial arts class were part of the many assets of the Jamaat-ud-Dawa which were seized in Pakistan. In addition to this a vast network of Islamist charities belonging to the Lashkar-e-Tayiba's financial arms, Jamaat-ud-Dawa and Falah-e-Insaniyat were taken over by Pakistan.
A fleet of 4x4 trucks were also taken over, said a Reuters report. The action comes in the wake of intense pressure from the United States to act against agents of terror. Pakistan had said that it had issued a notification against the JuD and FIF. Pakistan in its notification had said that Saeed and his charities like JuD and FIF were banned from operating in Pakistan.
Further Pakistan also amended the Anti-Terrorism act of 1997 to proscribe entities banned by the United Nations Security Council Act.
Hafiz Saeed who is the main accused in the Mumbai 26/11 attack has repeatedly denied that he is involved in acts of terror. Recently he announced his entry into politics and said that he would contest the upcoming elections in Pakistan. With Pakistan declaring him a terrorist, his chances of contesting the polls look bleak.
