97 per cent of MLAs in new Karnataka assembly are crorepatis
77 have declared pending criminal cases while 215 or 97 per cent are crorepatis in the newly elected Karnataka legislative assembly. In the assembly that was elected in 2013, there were 74 MLAs with pending criminal cases says Association for Democratic Reforms in a report.

42(41%) out of 103 MLAs from BJP, 23 (30%) out of 78 MLAs from INC and 11 (30%) out of 37 MLAs from JD(S) MLAs have declared criminal cases against themselves in their affidavits.
29(28%) out of 103 MLAs from BJP, 17 (22%) out of 78 MLAs from INC and 8 (22%) out of 37 MLAs from JD(S) MLAs have declared serious criminal cases against themselves in their affidavits.
Financial background:
Out of the 221 newly elected MLAs, 215 (97%) are crorepatis. Out of 218 MLAs analysed during Karnataka 2013 assembly elections, 203 (93%) MLAs were crorepatis.
1 out of 103 MLAs analysed from BJP,11(14%) out of 78 MLAs from INC, 3(8%) out of 37 MLAs from JD(S) and 1(100%) MLA from Karnataka Pragnyavantha Janatha Party have declared assets valued more than Rs 100 crore.
The average assets per MLA in the Karnataka 2018 assembly elections is Rs. 34.59 crores. In 2013, the average assets of 218 MLAs analysed was Rs 23.54 crores.
The richest MLA is Nagaraju (MTB) of the Congress with assets worth Rs 1,015 crore. The second in the list is D K Shivakumar of the Congress with assets worth Rs 840 crore. Suresh B S of the Congress is third with assets worth Rs 416 crore.
S A Ramdas of the BJP has the lowest assets at Rs 36 lakh. The second on this list is A S Ravindra of the JD(S) with Rs 68 lakh. N Mahesh the BSP candidate who won from Kollegal has assets worth Rs 75 lakh.
