7th Pay Commission: This is the reason why CG employees are not getting a pay hike

There are many news outlets which have also been reporting that an announcement could be made on August 15. However there is no confirmation on this at all. OneIndia can confirm that no decision relating to the 7th Pay Commission has been taken so far. The latest update is that the government has said that the matter would be considered only after taking into account the financial consideration and burdens.

There are a host of issues as to why the government is not taking a decision in this regard. First and foremost it would have to study the financial constraints. Secondly, it has been contemplating to come up with a new formula to decide on the pay hike. If this were to happen then the 7th Pay Commission would be the last. Thirdly the inflation has to be looked into and there are several issues that are being discussed in this regard.

Most importantly, the government is also likely to wait until all other states implement the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, before it would take a final call. Lastly, there has been a debate on what the basic minimum pay hike needs to be. The government feels that the basic pay should be raised from Rs 18,000 as recommended by the 7th Pay Commission to Rs 21,000. However the Central Government employees say that the hike should be at Rs 26,000.
