Nellore: 3-year old girl, trapped in borewell, dies

Nellore (AP), Aug 12: The 3-year old girl, G Mounika, who got trapped in a borewell while playing in her neighbour's backyard, is reportedly dead. The borewell was dug on Wednesday.

Following an hour of the incident, emergency services were pressed into action who made all the efforts to save her life. G. Mounika was trapped between loose soil and the PVC casing of a 27-feet deep freshly-dug borewell at Nandemmapuram in Kavali mandal of Nellore.

Sarpanch N. Srinivasulu, had earlier updated about the slow progress in the rescue operation due to the loose soil. As expected, today morning, the rescue authorities found her dead.

Mounika had come to the village with her mother Tirupatamma, who had come to her mother's house for the delivery of her second child two months ago. Police, fire and revenue officials are monitoring the rescue operations.
