7 dead, 2 injured in level-3 fire at Sargam Society in Mumbai's Chembur


Mumbai, Dec 27: At least seven people died and two others injured after a level-3 fire broke out on the 14th floor of Sargam Society in Chembur, Mumbai, on Thursday.

The fire has been doused and cooling down operation is underway. Five fire tenders were present at the spot. At the outset, the fire was at Level-2.

V N Panigrahi, CFO Mumbai, said, "We received a call on 7:46pm. 8 fire engine,1 water tanker and several ambulances were rushed to the spot. The fire has been doused completely, cooling down operation underway."

This is the fourth major fire reported in Mumbai in the past four days. On Sunday, two incidents of fire were reported. A level 3 fire broke out at the basement of ground plus seven New Beauty Center at Khar around 10 am wherein no casualties were reported.

Last week, a level 2 fire broke out at a luxury showroom adjoining the 5-star Trident Hotel at Mumbai's Nariman Point. On December 17, a major fire at a government-run hospital in Andheri that killed 10 and injured many.
