2002 Hit and Run Case: Witness says, Salman was in driver's seat at the time of accident
A witness on Thursday testified against Salman stating that the actor was behind the wheels when the accident took place.
Earlier, a liquor bar manager in Juhu also identified Salman Khan saying the actor had come to the restaurant with friends but said he was not sure whether Salman took drinks or not.
Earlier, Salman's counsel said since the case was very sensitive and involved a serious offence, the original documents needed to be placed before the court as per the law and true copies would not suffice.
The court had on July 25 asked the Bandra police to produce, apart from the missing statements, the case diaries but was informed even those have disappeared and thus, the case was put on hold. The case was again reopened on September 2014 once all the missing documents were recovered.
On September 28, 2002, the actor's car had run over a group of people sleeping on the pavement outside a bakery, killing one and injuring four.
Salman who is now standing trial under a law pertaining to culpable homicide could attract a jail term up to ten years if proved guilty.
