While the river Kharkhai was flowing above danger mark, the water level in the Swarnarekha was about to touch the red mark, officials said. The administration have alerted people living in low lying areas like Bagbera, Kadma, Mango, Govindpur, Kapali, where hundreds of houses were submerged this morning owing to incessant rains for last two days.

Some of the affected families have been shifted to a relief camp set up by the administration. Another reason for water level of the two rivers to rise was opening of six sluice gates of Chandil dam and one from Bankbal dam in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha, officials said adding that the administration was keeping a vigil on the situation round the clock.
